The air fryer is such a neat gadget. It is pretty much a mini convection oven. I enjoy using mine and cooking all kinds of different things in it. Did you know you can cook eggs in it? Air fryer hard-boiled eggs are so awesome and are ready, start to finish, in under 20 minutes.
Air fryer hard boiled eggs are so simple to make and they can be used in a variety of dishes. Pretty much any recipe that calls for hard-boiled eggs. And you don’t have to deal with boiling water. They are super convenient to make especially if you only want a few hard-boiled eggs.
Let’s get started!
Step 1: Gather the ingredients
In order to make hard-boiled eggs in an air fryer you need just a handful of ingredients and tools:
- Eggs
- Air Fryer – The type of air fryer shouldn’t matter. I have the kind with a basket that pulls out.
- Tongs
- Water
- Ice

Step 2: How to make air fryer hard-boiled eggs
Place the eggs in your Air Fryer basket. You should easily be able to cook up to 12 eggs at a time, depending on the size of your air fryer basket.
NOTE: The eggs can be cold straight from the fridge and into the basket. Or they can be at room temp. The room temp ones will take about a minute less time to cook.
Put the basket with the eggs in the air fryer and set the temp to 275 to 280 F (135 to 137 C).
Set the time to 14 to 18 minutes. It really depends on how cooked you want the yolk. I recommend trying 2 eggs at first at 18 minutes and see how they turn out in your air fryer.
The eggs can be at room temp or straight out of the fridge. If they are cold it will take a minute or two longer.
Once the timer goes off remove the basket with the eggs. You may or may not see debris on the eggshell. If you don’t clean the basket well enough from prior use, especially if you use any kind of oil, you may find some on the eggs when done. But it won’t affect the inside in any way.
Use tongs to pull the hot air fryer hard-boiled eggs out and place them in a bowl of water. Add ice to make the water super cold. The cold water will stop the eggs from cooking further and make them easier to peel.
Keep them in the ice water for a few minutes. Any debris that was on the outside of the egg should wash right off in the cold water.
Step 3: Crack and serve the air fryer hard boiled eggs
Now time to eat those eggs. Crack them on the counter and then peel them. Then eat them however you want. Use them as-is, make deviled eggs with them, use them in another dish like potato salad, or slice and place them on a green salad, etc.
You may notice some brown spots on the egg once peeled. These are cooked marks that sometimes appear from cooking them in the air fryer. They are superficial marks and will not affect the egg.
NOTE: If the egg yolk isn’t cooked as well as you would like, just cook it a few minutes longer the next time. Or if you would like it a little less cooked, use less time in the air fryer.
And that is it, no boiling water, etc. Super easy to do! Enjoy!
How long do hard-boiled eggs last?
Once cooked, hard-boiled eggs, whether cooked in the air fryer or classicly cooked in boiling water, will last for about a week.
