Are you a fan of bacon? Are you a fan of hot dogs? If so, you will love this bacon wrapped hot dogs recipe. This is my favorite way to eat hot dogs. Have you heard of danger dogs? These are extremely similar to those Mexican hot dogs but they are not deep fried but cooked in an air fryer, and I don’t add jalapenos to mine haha. They are super easy to make in around 15 minutes. Time to up your hot dog game with some bacon!

Ingredients

3 strips of bacon next to 3 hot dog franks and three hot dog buns on a white cutting board.

To make air fryer bacon wrapped hot dogs you need just a handful of simple ingredients:

  • Hot Dog Franks – I usually buy the bun length wieners or franks.
  • Bacon – Use thin sliced bacon, thick sliced doesn’t work well at all.
  • Buns – Use your favorite hot dog buns.

Tools/Equipment

  • Air Fryer – Although you can cook these in the oven as well.
  • Tongs

How to make air fryer bacon wrapped hot dogs

Hands wrapping a hot dog frank with bacon.

Take a hot dog frank and start and one end and then wrap the slice of bacon around it, slightly overlapping the edge which will help it stay together. If needed, you can poke a few toothpicks through it to keep the piece of bacon on the hot dog wiener. However, make sure to soak the toothpicks in water first. I usually don’t use toothpicks.

Place the hot dog wieners wrapped in bacon with the wrapped ends down in the air fryer basket. Again this will help keep them from unraveling. Set the air fryer to 385F or 195C and cook the dogs for 12 to 14 minutes until the bacon is done. At the 7-minute mark remove the basket and turn the dogs over to ensure even cooking.

Once cooked remove the bacon-wrapped hot dog wieners with tongs and place them in your hot dog buns if you are using those.

Now serve them however you like. My favorite way to eat them is with some ketchup and mustard and sometimes relish and chopped onions. Use your favorite toppings and condiments, pico de Gallo, shredded cheese, and chili are also other excellent options. These are so much better than regular hot dogs. Enjoy!

How long will bacon hot dogs last?

Store any leftovers in an airtight container or zip-lock bag in the fridge for a few days. Heat them back up in the air fryer.

Can I cook these in the oven instead?

Yes! You sure can cook these in a standard oven. Use the same temperature and place the wrapped franks on a baking sheet or in a baking pan. They will take longer to cook 15 to 20 minutes.

How do I add cheese to these?

If you would like to add cheese, I suggest cutting a slit down the middle of the hot dog frank lengthwise but don’t cut all the way through. Open it up and add a thing long piece of cheese, then wrap it in bacon. If needed, use toothpicks to hold it together. Then air fry them.
