Are you a fan of quick bread? I certainly am. Well, I am addicted to bread in general, but quick bread is one of my favorite types of bread. Is it a cake? Is it bread? Who cares, haha, it is good. In this article, I share 10 of my favorite easy quick bread recipes.
If you love quick bread then I am certain you will find something in this article to try. There is something for everyone in this post. Sweet or savory, I have got you covered. Each one of these easy quick bread recipes is simple to make with common ingredients. If I can do it, you can do it. Let’s get baking!
Cake vs Quick bread
First, before I go further, I wanted to explain the differences between a cake and quick bread. Most people in the United States are familiar with a quick bread. In other countries, however, I find quick bread is not as popular or common. I regularly get comments on my quick bread videos from people saying it looks like a cake or actually saying it is a cake and not bread.
So what is the difference between cake and quick bread? Well, there are a few differences. For one thing, cakes are light and fluffy. And quick bread is denser. You don’t typically frost quick bread either. Another difference is that a cake usually is much sweeter and has more fat added to it. And oftentimes you spread butter on slices of quickbread regardless of the type. But you definitely can’t and wouldn’t spread butter on a slice of cake.
But honestly if you want to just call it a loaf cake, then go right ahead, haha. Now let’s get down to business and share the 10 easy quick bread recipes.
1: Cinnamon Bread – Easy Quick Bread Recipes
First up on my list of easy quick bread recipes is cinnamon bread. This cinnamon quick bread recipe is amazing. It is soft, sweet, moist, and oh so delicious.
I always spread some butter on it and eat it for breakfast. If you are a fan of cinnamon dishes and you love quick bread, you have got to give this amazing cinnamon bread recipe a try.
Honestly, it is so good, I can’t eat just one slice, can you?
2: Chocolate Bread
I am a chocolate and bread addict. So number 2 on this list is right up my alley. Chocolate bread is a delightful blend of quick bread and chocolate. It isn’t overly sweet but still packs a nice chocolate flavor punch.
If you have a chocolate lover in your family you have got to make this bread for them. Not as sweet as chocolate cake and it is so yummy spreading strawberry jam and or butter on a slice.
Here is my chocolate bread recipe if you want to try it out.
3: Coconut Bread – Easy Quick Bread Recipes
Number 3 on the easy quick bread recipes list is coconut bread. This coconut bread is probably the sweetest on the list and is the closest to a loaf cake in my opinion. It is still denser than a traditional cake, but just as sweet, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. A buddy of mine shared it with me and I have been hooked ever since.
One thing I love about this bread is the glaze on top. You poke holes on the top of the bread and then drizzle on the hot glaze which oozes down into the holes. If you love coconut and you love quick bread you have definitely got to try this recipe.
Here is the coconut bread recipe if you would like to try it.
4: Soda Bread
Next up on the easy quick bread recipes list is soda bread. Soda bread or Irish Soda bread has been around for many many years. It uses baking soda and baking powder to make the dough rise when it is baked. It is the only quick bread on this list that has dough instead of a batter. American Soda bread and Irish soda bread are a little different but have the same basic ingredients.
Soda bread is a good alternative to yeast bread. It can be used for sandwiches if desired and is not very sweet at all. It is a bit more crumbly than traditional yeast-based bread and kind of reminds me of a giant American-style biscuit.
My favorite way to eat a slice is with butter and honey. The soda bread origin comes from The US in the 1840s after baking soda was invented. It later became popular in European countries as well.
Here is my soda bread recipe.
5: Banana Bread – Easy Quick Bread Recipes
Number 5 on the easy quick bread recipes list and probably the most popular is banana bread. I have always enjoyed banana bread ever since I first ate it as a kid.
Banana bread is a type of quick bread made from very ripe mashed bananas. It is moist, sweet, and oh so delicious. It is the perfect way to use those overly ripe bananas sitting on the counter. Did you know in the United States National Banana Bread Day is February 23? I sure didn’t, haha.
The modern banana bread recipes started to appear in the 1930s. In 2019 the Global Market size for Banana bread was 1.07 Billion USD. With North America having the largest market segment. We definitely love our banana bread here in North America!

6: Nutella Bread
Number 6 we have Nutella bread. This particular iteration of Nutella bread is my own creation. I came up with the idea after making peanut butter bread which I will share more about later on in the article. I have seen Nutella used as an ingredient in traditional yeast-breads like this braided Nutella bread, but not really in the quick bread form.
It was an experiment that turned out amazing. If you are a fan of Nutella and you like quick bread you have got to give this Nutella bread a try. It isn’t overly sweet and goes great with butter and jam or just eaten plain.
Here is the Nutella bread recipe.
7: Pumpkin Bread
Next, we have pumpkin bread. I absolutely love pumpkin bread, it is one of my favorite types of quick bread. It is soft, moist, not too sweet, and full of pumpkin flavor.
You don’t have to wait for the holidays to make something with pumpkin. Especially this pumpkin bread, it is amazing year-round. If you are a pumpkin lover like me, you will absolutely love this pumpkin bread.
Like most quick bread it comes together quickly and is in the oven baking in no time. Here is the pumpkin bread recipe if you would like to try it.
8: Zucchini Bread – Easy Quick Bread Recipes
Number 8 on the list is Zucchini Bread. I am not a huge fan of eating zucchini but I love it in bread form. Seriously this is the best way to hide a vegetable. Add some walnuts or pecans and you have one of the “healthier” types of quick bread on this list.
For those of you who haven’t tried it, it may sound a bit strange to add zucchini to bread, a similar idea as making carrot cake. It is one vegetable that just works well as an ingredient in baked goods.
Did you know National Zucchini Bread Day is on April 25th? Seems like there is a day for everything, haha. Here is my recipe for Zucchini bread if you would like to try it.
9: Chocolate Banana Bread
This brings us to number 9 and probably my all-time favorite quick bread, Chocolate Banana Bread. I love both chocolate and banana bread so it makes sense that this would be my favorite. It is really hard to choose a favorite, but this one is definitely at the top.
If you love chocolate and you love banana bread, then you have got to try this recipe. It is moist and full of chocolate and banana flavor. A slice of this works well for breakfast, brunch, a snack, or even as a dessert.

Peanut butter bread is a depression-era bread. It became popular during the great depression when fresh ingredients weren’t readily available. The ingredients for this bread were items that you could regularly find in your pantry.
