This healthy homemade granola recipe is very easy to make and tastes super yummy.

Granola is much cheaper to make at home then it is to buy at the store and it doesn’t take very much active time at all. It is a perfect snack for hiking, camping, biking, or of course while watching tv or a movie, anytime really. If I can do it, you can do it, let’s get started!

Step 1: Gather the granola ingredients and tools

First in order to make this homemade granola recipe we need some ingredients and tools. We will need:

  • old fashioned rolled oats (don’t use 1-minute oats)
  • pecans or any of your favorite nuts that you like to snack on
  • slivered almonds or a variety of seeds like sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds
  • salt
  • cinnamon
  • coconut oil
  • vanilla extract
  • honey
  • maple syrup
  • craisins or raisins
variety of homemade granola ingredients in glass bowls sitting on wooden table.

For the tools you will need:

Step 2: Mix dry ingredients

First, let’s preheat the oven to 350 F (176 C). Now let’s add our pecans, almonds, salt, and cinnamon to a large bowl with our old-fashioned rolled oats. Mix until well combined.

Step 3: Coconut oil and more

Now we take our coconut oil and add it to a medium-sized bowl. Heat it up in the microwave or on the stovetop beforehand, until completely melted, but not hot.

Now add the vanilla extract, honey, and maple syrup. You can use all honey or all maple syrup if you like. 🙂 Stir those all together until combined.

Step 4: Mixing time!

Next, we pour the wet ingredients in with our dry ingredients and stir to combine.

Step 5: Into the oven to bake

Now we add the unbaked granola to a sheet pan lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Spread it out with a spoon or spatula then bake it for about 12 minutes.

After 12 minutes take it out of the oven and stir it, then pat it back down. We want to ensure even baking. Back in the oven, it goes for another 12 to 14 minutes until it gets lightly golden brown on top.

Once baked, let it cool completely, at least 45 minutes to an hour.

Step 6: Breaking up that granola

Next once the granola has cooled it is time to break it up. Place it in a bowl or a ziplock bag. Then add your Craisins or other dried fruit. There you go homemade granola! Enjoy! 🙂

I’m on Blue plan for weight watchers and I entered the nutrition values in app under calculator and figures 9 points what is serving size?? Says 20 servings but like 1/2 cup etc thanks

    • Hi Karen!! The serving size is just around 1/3 cup. I just used the “very well-fit calculator.” But I just tried another calculator which I also use called HappyForks and got little different results. So I updated the nutritional information portion. Just a little different.

I love granola and even though I don’t make my own, I buy all sorts of combos at my local Whole Foods. It’s delicious but, I just wish only we could eliminate the calories. 🙂
