When it is hot outside and you are craving a cold treat, these homemade orange creamsicles hit the spot!

Growing up I ate a lot of popsicles and a variety of other cold treats. One of my favorites were class orange creamsicles. Also known as orange dream or orange dreamsicles. I love the combination of flavors between the orange and the vanilla ice cream.

While not exactly true to form, these homemade orange creamsicles are still an amazing homemade version. They are so easy to make with just a few ingredients. And the cool thing is you can use the same ingredients to make a creamsicle float too if you like. It is a win-win! If I can do it, you can do it. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Gather the ingredients

In order to make homemade orange creamsicles you only need 2 ingredients! It really is that simple.

Step 2: How to make homemade orange creamsicles

There are a variety of ways to make these creamsicles. I am going to show you the two easiest methods. They won’t turn out as fancy as store-bought ones, with the orange flavor covering on the outside, and the perfect vanilla ice cream molded on the inside, but that is okay, they still taste awesome!

Method 1

For the first method take a small funnel, and pour in either the orange soda or the orange juice about half way into the mold.

Then once you have the mold half-way full of orange soda or orange juice, use a small spoon and scoop in some vanilla ice cream until it gets near the top. Place the top of the popsicle on and freeze for a few hours.

Method 2

The second method for making homemade orange creamsicles involves mixing both the ice cream and the soda together first.

Hand mixing a glass bowl of vanilla ice cream and orange soda.

Pour some orange soda into a small bowl and add in some ice cream, mix them together. The fill up a popsicle mold with that liquid. Put the top on and freeze for a few hours.

When the first method freezes it will make sort of a marbling effect with the ice cream and the soda. There will be a mix of flavor depending on where you are licking the creamsicle.

When method 2 freezes it will all be one uniform color and flavor.

When you want to take the creamsicle out of the mold, run some warm water on the outside of the mold, that will help release it. Then enjoy! I told you this was easy!

How long do homemade orange creamsicles last?

They will last 2 to 3 months if kept stored in the freezer. But my guess is they will not last that long.
