I love tater tots and I love using my air fryer. Like seriously, tater tots are amazing possibly even better than french fries, yes I said it! Learn how to cook frozen tater tots in air fryer at home in around half of the time it takes to do it in the oven. This is perfect for people who just want some tots fast and only need a small portion for 1 to 3 people. It is also nice if another dish is occupying your oven.

Ingredient

Bag of frozen tater tots on a counter.

To cook tots at home in the air fryer you need just 1 simple ingredient and 1 simple tool:

  • Bag of Frozen Tater Tots – I like to use the Ore-Ida brand, but any tots will work
  • Cooking spray is optional but not really needed.

several frozen tater tots in an air fryer basket.

Add the amount of frozen tater tots that you want to cook to the air fryer basket. Make sure and spread them out into a single layer. You can do more than that, but it will take a bit longer. It works best when done in a single layer. So, the size of your air fryer will determine how many tots you can cook at once.

Put the basket in the air fryer and set the temp to 385F/196C. It doesn’t have to be exact anywhere between 375F and 400F will be fine. Turn the air fryer on and cook the tots for 12 to 15 minutes, the cooking time will vary depending on how many tots you have in the basket. There is no need to preheat the air fryer. Cook the tater tots until they are golden brown and crispy.

TIP: For extra crispy tater tots spray a bit of olive oil on them. However, oil is not necessary. Also for crunchy tots you can cook them a few extra minutes.

Time to serve up those yummy air fryer tater tots. Eat them with hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken tenders, by themselves, etc. Serve them with ketchup, barbecue sauce, or ranch dressing, however, you like to eat them. Enjoy!

How long do tater tots last after being cooked?

Already cooked tater tots will last 3 to 4 days in the fridge in an airtight container. Reheat them in the air fryer.
