How to make 3-Ingredient Sour Cream Biscuits at Home

Biscuit dough in a large pyrex bowl

This recipe is so simple! Take your butter out of the fridge about an hour or so before you want to use it so it can soften; otherwise, you can soften it in the microwave.

Preheat the oven to 375F or 190C.

Then, in a large bowl, mix together the sour cream, softened butter, and self-rising flour, using a sturdy wooden spoon or silicone spoon. The dough will be tacky and thick when it is done. You can also use a hand mixer or a stand mixer with a paddle attachment. This dough is so easy, I usually just do it by hand.

NOTE: If you don’t have self-rising flour, then you will use 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder, and 1/4 tsp of salt.

Mini muffin pan filled with biscuit dough ready to go in the oven.

Spray or lightly grease your muffin pan with oil or cooking spray. You can use a large standard muffin pan or a mini-muffin pan.

Then fill each cavity up. I like to use my little mini-cookie scoop so I get the same amount of dough in each one. You can use two Tablespoons or Teaspoons as well.

Now just bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes or up to 22 minutes with large biscuits until lightly golden brown. A toothpick should come out clean when poked in the center. Don’t overbake them because they can get crumbly.

Now allow the easy sour cream biscuits to cool completely before serving them. They should come right out of the pan. Serve them as is, with gravy, butter, and jam or honey, etc. Enjoy!
