Whether you are on the Keto diet specifically or you are looking for a low-carb, gluten-free, healthier pizza option, this keto pizza recipe is for you.
I love pizza and one of my favorite pizza dough recipes is this homemade pizza dough. There is something comforting about holding a nice slice of homemade pizza and then gobbling it up and going for another slice.
My brother has been on the Keto diet for three years now and he loves it. So we did a collaboration on keto pizza. I didn’t think I would like the crust, because, I am a fan of traditional crust, but I totally did. This homemade cauliflower and cheese crust is really good. The pizza itself is super easy to make, if I can do it, you can do it. Let’s get baking!
What is the different between success and failure while on the Keto diet? Find out here in this excellent resource.
Step 1: Gather the ingredients
In order to make this yummy keto pizza recipe you need just a handful of ingredients for the crust and then whatever toppings that you like:
- Cauliflower
- Coconut flour – Or you can use almond flour as well.
- Mozzarella cheese – Organic, pasture-raised, if possible.
- Eggs
- Toppings (sugar-free pizza sauce, cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, spinach, etc.)
Tools
- Parchment paper
- Food processor or cheese grater
- Cookie sheet or pizza pan
- Bowls
- Wooden spoon or spatula
- Pizza cutter
Step 2: How to make Keto pizza
Preheat the oven to 425 F/218 C. Time to make the keto pizza crust first. Grate the cauliflower until you have enough for 2 cups. You can use a food processor or a box cheese grater if you like. Pour the cauliflower crumbs into a large bowl.
Add the coconut or almond flour along with the grated cheese and eggs. You can use pre-grated cheese or grate your own. I always use mozzarella cheese on my pizzas, so yummy.
Mix those ingredients together well until a dough forms. Then line a cookie sheet with a piece of parchment paper.
Pour the dough out onto the parchment paper and shape the dough into a round pizza shape about 1/3 of an inch thick. To shape the dough press down with your palm and fingers. Make sure you have clean hands of course.
Now bake just the crust in the oven for 14 to 17 minutes until the edges are lightly brown. Check it after 10 or 12 minutes. Remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for 5 to 10 minutes before putting the toppings on.
Step 3: Bake the keto pizza
Now it is time to put whatever kind of toppings that you like on it. I like to start with a very thin spread of sugar-free pizza sauce, this homemade pizza sauce minus the sugar is awesome for this. Then add mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, olives, mushrooms, and spinach. Sometimes I will add onions, bacon, peppers, sausage, etc. as well.
Bake the keto pizza in the oven for about 10 to 12 minutes, until the cheese is all melted. Remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing it up and serving it. Enjoy!
How long does keto pizza last?
While it is best eaten fresh, you can store leftover slices of the pizza in an airtight container or zip lock bag for a few days in the fridge.
