I am a huge fan of silicone products. These reusable silicone storage bags are pretty cool. I can’t remember the last time I bought sandwich bags.
If you follow my website as well as my YouTube Channel you know I love silicone products. Two of my favorite products are the silicone baking mats and the silicone stretch lids. I have a silicone stretch lid article that you can read about as well if you like.
There are so many different silicone products out there, and my collection keeps getting bigger and bigger. I have been using these silicone storage bags for a few years now, and have been quite happy with them. On to the review!
What are reusable silicone storage bags?
This particular silicone storage bag is made out of food-grade silicone and comes in two sizes. You can get the gallon sizes and the quart sizes. The quart sizes are perfect for smaller sandwiches, chicken, steaks, fruit, etc.
They have a hard plastic slider, that seals the silicone bag shut.
Once sealed shut without whatever food you want to put in there, it can be stored on the counter, in the fridge, even in the freezer.
They are a great way to help keep your fruit fresh, vegetables, soup, marinade, etc. And the main thing is you don’t throw it away. It can easily be hand-washed with hot soapy water, and you can put it in the microwave.
Apparently they were engineered to last a lifetime, I haven’t had that much time with them yet, but 2 years is much longer than a one time use plastic bag.
Now for a few tests.
Are the silicone storage bags water tight?
I really wanted to test out how water-tight these were. The claim was that they were airtight and water tight. After pouring in some water and sealing the bag.
I flipped the bag upside down and was impressed. Not a drop of water came out. Pretty cool! So yes! Theses silicone storage bags are watertight.
Can the bags go in the microwave?
Yes! The silicone storage bags can go in the microwave. I tested that out with some cake batter. It was pretty awesome to cook a cake inside the bag in the microwave. Instead of a mug cake it is a bag cake! Now, this isn’t something that I will do often, but nice to know I can. The slider should not go in the microwave, however.
Can these silicone storage bags be used for sous vide?
Yes! One of their main purposes is to be used for sous vide cooking. I have done steak in them and the steak turns out amazing! If you are interested in learning how to cook the perfect steak using sous vide watch my YouTube video.
Summary
These silicone storage bags are great! The can be used in place of your standard plastic bags. It is a great way to help the environment if that is your thing. In the long run, you will save money as well because you don’t have to keep buying bags.
You can store all kinds of things in them, snacks, sandwiches, fruit, veggies, soup, marinade, water, meat, chicken, seafood, dog food, cat food, etc.

Are these made in China?
.
Hi there, Ann. I am not sure. There is no “made in china” printing on them. Here is the website. http://ecolifemate.com/ They do say on their website “Our products are delicately sourced with both time and care by using the highest American standards and regulations.” and “Eco-friendly alternative to single-use disposable plastic rezip bags. U.S. Patent Pending 62811426” But that doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t made in China. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were, though. Lots of silicone products are made/sourced from there. But I can’t say for certain one way or the other.
Hello Matt,
I would love to order some but,
Are this bags free from
polyvinyl chloride (V or Vinyl or PVC). It is the most toxic and the most harmful form of plastic. It contains bisphenol A (BPA), lead, phthalates, mercury, dioxins and cadmium.
Thank you Matt
Hi Rosemary, from my understanding they are free of those things. They aren’t made of plastic, they are made of food-grade silicone.
