This amazing homemade triple berry crisp recipe is one of my favorite berry desserts. I love berries! Especially when baked with a crisp or crumble topping.

I mean how can you go wrong with blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, butter, sugar, and oats? The short answer, you can’t! Triple berry crisp is a wonderful comfort food dessert that will leave you wanting more.

It is so very easy to make with just a handful of easy to find ingredients. If I can do it, you can do it. Let’s get baking!

Step 1: Gather the ingredients

Berries, sugar, oats, butter, etc. in glass bowls on a wooden table.

In order to make this delicious homemade triple berry crisp you need the following ingredients:

Filling

  • Berries – I always do mixed, hence the name triple berry crisp. A mix if blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries are my favorite. But you can certainly use all of one or the other.
  • Sugar – White granulated sugar
  • Flour – Use all-purpose/plain flour.
  • Ground cinnamon

Crisp

  • Oats – Rolled oats, I don’t recommend using the quick oats.
  • Sugar – More white granulated sugar
  • Flour – More all-purpose/plain flour
  • Brown sugar
  • Salt
  • Butter – Unsalted or salted, softened, not melted.
Plate with a scoop of triple berry crisp on it.

Tools

  • 10 inch round or 8×8 inch square pan
  • Spatula
  • Whisk or fork
  • Pastry blender (optional)
  • Bowls

Step 2: How to make homemade triple berry crisp

Large bowl of mixed berries with dry ingredients being poured on top.

Preheat the oven to 350 F. (176 C).

Take the dry filling ingredients, flour, sugar, and cinnamon and add those to a bowl and whisk to combine.

Add all the berries to a large bowl. Then pour the dry ingredients over the berries. Mix with a spatula or spoon until the berries are coated.

Medium bowl full of crisp topping.

Time to make the crisp topping. Take the rest of the dry ingredients and add to a large bowl. Use a fork or whisk and blend those together.

Then add your butter to the mixture and break it up into chunks. Next blend the butter in with the dry mixture, pushing down with the fork, or you may use a pastry blender. Keep doing this until all the butter is incorporated and you are left with little chunks of butter, flour, sugar, salt, and oats.

Pan of triple berry crisp ready to be baked.

Take your baking pan and butter the bottom and sides, or use shortening. Then pour the berry mixture into the pan and spread it out so it is level.

Now add your crisp topping. Use a fork to even it out.

Freshly baked homemade triple berry crisp.

Then bake it in a preheated oven at 350 F (176 C) for 50 to 60 minutes until the top gets golden brown and the berries bubble on the edges. Then let it cool for about 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

Now serve up a scoop of the berry crisp. You can put it on a plate or in a bowl and add ice cream or whipped cream, or whatever else you might like to try with it. I like it warm, but I also like it the next day, cold, after it has sat in the fridge. Enjoy! 🙂

Can I use gluten-free flour?

Yes! If you want to make this dessert entirely gluten-free swap the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour mix. Make sure the oats you use are certified gluten-free as well.

How long does triple berry crisp last?

If stored in an airtight container in the fridge it will last 3 to 4 days. You can also freeze it for a few months if you like.
