For a Mug (Full Sized Mug, 11/12 oz)
- 6 tbsp of cake mix use whatever cake mix you like
- 4 tbsp of water
- 2 tsp of canola or vegetable oil
For a Small Bowl (4/5 oz)
- 3 tbsp of cake mix
- 2 tbsp of water
- 1 tsp of canola oil or vegetable oil
From Scratch Chocolate cake recipe
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour or cake flour
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 4 tsp cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp vegetable, canola, olive, coconut, or avocado oil
- 3 tbsp water, milk, almond milk, or coffee
- pinch of salt
For Cake Mix
In a mug or bowl combine the chocolate cake mix, water, and oil. Mix well with a fork.
Microwave the mug for 1 minute 30 seconds to 1 minute 45 seconds. Check it with a toothpick, when it comes out clean it is ready.
A small bowl measurement will take about 1 minute.
Top with whatever you like such as, frosting, sprinkles, powdered sugar, etc.
From scratch
Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder in a mug and mix with a fork or small whisk.
Add the oil and the water and mix until well combined.
Cook in the microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on the wattage of your microwave.
Check for doneness with a toothpick.
Top with whatever you like and serve.
Note: These facts are for one large mug cake. The smaller the bowl or mug the fewer the calories and other nutritional information will be.
*If you want to use a standard oven: You need an oven-safe bowl/mug or a small cake pan. 350F/176C In a standard tall oven-proof mug it will take 25 to 30 minutes. In a wide open-mouth mug it will take less time 20 to 25 minutes. Just check it with a toothpick. In a small cake pan, it will be 15 to 20 minutes.
